Previously, Apple’s iPhone was mainly produced in China and then exported to international markets. However, in recent times, Apple has expanded production investments to other countries, India and Vietnam. Now, Apple has started exporting iPhone XR made in the Foxconn India factory.

According to the latest report, Apple is expected to double its export value to $3.2 billion in India this year. Ravi Shankar Prasad, India's Minister of Electronics & Information Technology, met with Foxconn officials, who said that the iPhone XR is currently being manufactured at the Chennai (Tamil Nadu) plant in South India.
At first, Apple invested in India through Wistron, which is also a Taiwanese manufacturer similar to Foxconn but based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
Terry Gou, Foxconn Group Chairman stated that the company is considering starting mass production of iPhone models in India. It is in line with the interests of the Indian Government because they want India to be a favorite destination for electronics companies.

India is known as a country with a high import tax on foreign goods. However, it also helps to encourage foreign manufacturers to bring production plants to India. Giant phone makers like Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi, LG, and, Vivo have been moving their manufacturing plants to India.
Production in India will also help Apple avoid the 20 percent tax that the Indian government imposed on imported iPhones from other countries. As a result, iPhone prices in India will be lower, which might result in higher sales in the country.
To recall, the iPhone XR was spotted last month with a tag "Assembled in India" in many electronic product retailers. The price of the handset was reportedly to be Rs. 49,900 for the version with 64GB storage.
