According to the latest rumor, Apple will change the iPhone design next year and will also abandon the LCD screen entirely and shift to OLED screens. It is expected that three iPhone 2020 models will have screens with sizes of 5.8, 6.06, and 6.4 inches, respectively. All three iPhone 2020 OLED displays will be completely redesigned without the notch.

Accompanied by this information is sad news for those who expect iPhone 2019 to have a change in design. Specifically, three iPhone models this year will only upgrade in terms of hardware, the successor to the iPhone XR will still use an LCD screen and the only change in design is the location of the rear camera cluster.
Information about Apple redesigning the iPhone in 2020 is in line with rumors saying that Apple will soon remove the notches on the iPhone displays. This is a logical move because many other smartphone companies have done this by using pop-up selfies cameras and designs such as hole-punch displays.
In addition, Apple will also give up the LCD screen completely and switch to OLED screens next year. To do this, Apple will diversify its OLED display suppliers. Besides Samsung, LG and BOE are likely to be partners to provide OLED displays for Apple. According to inside sources, the iPhone with 5.8 and 6.4-inch displays will have touch layers that are integrated seamlessly into the OLED displays while the iPhone with 6.06-inch display has an additional touch layer separated with OLED screens to reduce costs and increase production capacity.
When it was first released, Apple had trouble producing the Face ID module for iPhone X because it required the highest level of accuracy. However, all problems have been resolved, and there is even information suggest that the partner provides the Face ID module ready to shrink the component and still ensure the quality.
The smaller Face ID module combined with the Apple patents such as hole-punch display will help the company to get rid of the notch on its iPhone 2020. Besides, iPhone 2020 can also be equipped with fingerprint sensors embedded under their screen and support 5G network.
