This year, Apple highlight two features as the key points of the iPhone 11 lineup, which are battery life and cameras.
In earlier series, iPhones can hold up decently in battery life tests but still rank after some other Android phones which have larger cell’s capacity out of the box.
This year, Apple determines to change that with iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. They have succeeded. In a test conducted by Arun Maini, iPhone 11 Pro Max is the winner in battery durability, beating two other flagship Android smartphones.
Apple has gone big about the quality of the new iPhones with performance surpassing that of iPhone XR. However, what about the company’s claim about battery life?
iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max’s battery capacities are 3046 mAh, 3190 mAh, and 3969 mAh respectively. Maini tested three of them against comparable Android counterparts including Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, which both sports a 4500 mAh cell.
The phones in the test were put through tasks like Camera, Instagram, Shazam, music streaming, and 3D games.
The result is iPhone 11 Pro Max beats all others in durability. What surprises most viewers here is that while on papers, their battery life has only a small difference, in real life, the durability of iPhone 11 lags behind that of the 11 Pro by a wide margin.
iPhone 11 lasted for five hours and two minutes, which is similar to what we can expect from the iPhone XR, and definitely suitable for everyday use.
iPhone 11 Pro’s battery could hold up for six hours and 42 minutes, an hour longer than iPhone 11. Some explanation for this is that the OLED display on the Pro variant is more power-efficient than the LCD panel, or there are some bugs responsible for the drain of battery on iPhone 11.
Six hours and 31 minutes is the performance of the Galaxy Note 10+, a time similar to that of the iPhone 11 Pro.
The winner here is iPhone 11 Pro Max with eight hours 32 minutes, followed by Huawei Mate 30 Pro with eight hours 12 minutes.
With this capable battery, users of iPhone 11 Pro Max may expect it to last for more than a day.
