iPhone 11 Might Have The Ugliest Camera Module Ever, According To Its Molds

According to new photos of the iPhone 11 molds, the upcoming iPhone series might have one of the ugliest camera modules ever.

According to PhoneArena, this image comes from a Weibo user in China. The most noticeable feature is obviously the triple rear camera cluster in a protruding square on the back.

The triple rear camera setup on the iPhone 11 is speculated to comprise of a 14MP primary sensor, a 10MP telephoto camera, and a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor. The ToF sensor uses a laser beam that emits infrared light to measure the time it reflects back to the sensor when it hits an object. This data provides accurate depth information, which can help Apple offer Face ID and augmented reality (AR).

The screen sizes of iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max are currently unknown. Early this month, a source from Japan said the iPhone 11 and 11 Max will feature OLED screens of 6.1 and 6.5 inches in size. The successor to the iPhone XR is said to pack an LCD (Liquid Retina) panel but we don’t know what the size of its display will be. However, Ming-Chi Kuo - popular Apple analyst claims that the upcoming iPhone series will still have the same display sizes as the last year’s models. It means the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, and iPhone XR (2019) will pack a 5.8-inch, 6.4-inch, and 6.1-inch displays, respectively.

Underwater Mode will appear on iPhone 11 models

This set of images has not been able to conclude some of the information we want to know, such as whether Apple will switch to the USB-C connector. Last month, Kuo claimed that Apple still decides to retain the Lightning port for iPhone for at least another year, while the iPhone 2019 will have additional features called Underwater mode.

Mold 1

Apple has patented this feature which allows users to use the phone and capture images with touch screens even underwater. Moreover, combining ambient lighting sensor and a separate sensor for depth measurement, iPhone can adjust the color balance of the image when shooting underwater to eliminate blur or dark.

As for launch date, the upcoming iPhone 11 series will most likely be released in September this year.
