On February 24, Huawei officially launched the Huawei Mate Xs - its next 5G foldable smartphone in Barcelona, Spain. This is considered an upgrade version of Mate X last year, using Kirin 990 5G processor, improved hinge structure, and better display quality.
It is known that the entire Huawei Mate Xs hinge system uses a variety of special materials and special manufacturing processes. The phone has a Falcon Wing design, with a frame made of zirconium-based liquid metal, which 30% harder than titanium alloy and extremely rugged.
When switching between phone and tablet mode, the Falcon Wing hinge structure will protect the screen, while providing a smoother and more accurate opening / closing experience.
The Mate Xs’ film is made of dual-layer aerospace-level polyimide flexible material, which allows the display to show clear and sharp images as well as incredible saturation and brightness. It is known that this special material is 3 times more expensive than gold.
Huawei says that the Mate Xs screen has a 4-layer structure, more durable than the previous model. On the top are two layers of polyamide film, which are glued together with transparent adhesive. Below is a flexible OLED panel, followed by the soft polymer layer and the final layer to connect the screen to the device's body. However, all of these materials are plastic, there is no glass layer like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
As for hardware configuration, the Huawei Mate Xs comes with the more powerful Kirin 990 5G processor and 4,500mAh battery capacity. It also supports Huawei’s 55W fast charging technology, which can charge the battery from 0% to 85% in just 30 minutes.
On the back, we will have a quad-camera system with Leica-branded lenses, including a 40MP main sensor, a 16MP ultra wide-angle sensor, an 8MP telephoto sensor, and a 3D ToF depth sensor.
The Huawei Mate Xs will be sold on in Europe for Euro 2,499 (around Rs. 1,95,200) for the 8GB RAM + 512GB storage version.
