Huawei P40 & Huawei P40 Pro Will Officially Launch On 26 March

The Huawei P40 and Huawei P40 Pro have been confirmed to arrive at a launch event in Paris on 26 March, with the latter being touted as the "most powerful 5G smartphone in the world".

Huawei has just made an official announcement, saying that the successors to the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro will be launched at an event on March 26, in Paris, France. CEO Richard Yu called this the "most powerful 5G smartphone in the world," probably referring to Huawei P40 Pro.

The information was confirmed in an online event, organized by Huawei to replace the appearance at MWC 2020, which was canceled. During this online event, Huawei launched the Huawei Mate XS foldable smartphone, a 5G version of MatePad Pro, a new line of laptops and smart devices, along with Huawei Mobile Services updates and the App Gallery app store (alternative to Google Play store).

While the information on the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro is still quite limited, it can be fairly certain that Huawei's next flagship smartphones will still use the Kirin 990 5G processor chipset, which has been launched along with Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. Besides, if nothing special happens, the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will still not have Google services installed, though it will still be pre-installed with Android 10-based EMUI 10.

The two smartphones will also likely sport 120Hz displays. On the imaging front, the Huawei P40 is tipped to carry three rear cameras while the P40 Pro might have as many as five cameras at its back. In addition, previously leaked photos showed that the P40 Pro will have a sizable camera bump to house those five cameras, a notch-free camera with a pill-shaped punch-hole at the top left corner, no headphone jack, curved edges, and a USB-C port at the bottom. As for the Huawei P40, it was said to come in six color variants, including Mint Green.

CEO Richard Yu is no stranger to his bold statements at Huawei events. But it will be interesting to see how the Huawei P40 Pro will be a "world's strongest 5G smartphone", as Samsung has just launched the "monster" Galaxy S20 Ultra.
