Just a year ago, a lot of companies bragged about their smartphones featuring 8GB RAM, but now, there are already several flagship smartphones having a massive 10GB of RAM.
Whether or not the 10GB RAM is too much for the majority of users is still debatable as only a few devices are having that much RAM. Do you know which are those smartphones? Check out our article to find out.
Nubia Red Magic Mars
The Nubia Red Magic Mars is the second smartphone in the Red Magic series under the Nubia brand of ZTE which targets gaming smartphone segment. You can now grab one with 10GB RAM/256GB storage in the Chinese market for a price of 3,999 CNY (around Rs. 40,600). Nubia hasn’t revealed its plan to release the handset in other markets.
The gaming device features a 6-inch IPS LCD display and a Snapdragon 845 SoC. It will run the latest Android 9 Pie and features a single 16MP sensor on the rear as well as an 8MP front-facing camera and a 3,800 mAh battery. Nubia also offers an optional game controller that can connect to the side of the handset alongside capacitive buttons that can be used as shoulder triggers for games.
Overall, the Nubia Red Magic Red is a smartphone with powerful specs and high-end features but sacrifices other departments (the single camera on the rear and the old-fashioned LCD)
Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition
Besides featuring 10GB RAM, the Vivo handset is also packed with a Snapdragon 845 SoC, 128GB internal storage, an on-screen fingerprint sensor and a 3,500 mAh battery. However, the most prominent feature of this smartphone, you can tell by the name, is its dual displays, including a 6.39-inch OLED display with a 1,080 x 2,340 pixels resolution on the front and a 5.49-inch OLED rear display with a 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution.
Because it has a second display on its rear, there is no use for a front camera on it. Instead, the Vivo handset can take photos on both sides with a triple camera setup at the back. The camera setup includes a 12MP primary sensor with a f/1.79 aperture, a 2MP secondary shooter for depth effects and a third TOF (Time of Flight) sensor for augmented reality and 3D effects.
The Vivo Next Dual Display Edition is already available for pre-ordering in the Chinese market for 4,998 CNY (around Rs. 50,727) and it will go on sale from 20 December. Similar to the Nubia Red Magic Mars, Vivo hasn’t confirmed whether it will release the handset on other markets.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3
The smartphones on the Xiaomi Mi Mix series have already been packed with cutting-edge specs, and features; and Xiaomi still keeps that on its new Mi Mix 3. While there are only 6/8GB of RAM on its standard variants, the Mi Mix 3 Forbidden City special Edition model features 10GB of RAM/256GB storage. And it is priced at 4,999 CNY (Rs. 50,736).
The Xiaomi flagship sports a 6.39-inch AMOLED panel with 1,080 x 2,34o resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Thanks to its sliding camera, the phone has a 93.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. There are two cameras on the rear, including a 12MP f1.8 primary sensor with 1.4µm pixels and a secondary f2.4 telephoto sensor with 1.0µm pixels. On the front, there are a primary 24MP camera and a second 2MP sensor for portrait effects.
The Vivo handset also sports a Snapdragon 845 SoC and a 3,200 mAh battery with wireless charging capability. The phone runs the Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 of Xiaomi. The smartphone is speculated to launch in the UK, but there is a high possibility that the phone will not be available in the US market. Also, the variant with 10GB RAM may only be exclusively in the Chinese market.
Xiaomi Black Shark Helo
Another smartphone of Xiaomi features on the list. The gaming Black Shark Helo is the second additions in the Black Shark series which targets gaming phone segment. Besides the regular 6GB/8GB RAM models, there will be another variant with 10GB of RAM/256GB storage. However, Xiaomi hasn’t revealed the price and launch date of that model.
Other specifications of the Xiaomi Black Shark Helo include a Snapdragon 845 SoC, a 6.0-inch display with a 1,080 x 2,160 pixels resolution, a dual camera on the rear with 20MP and 12MP sensors as well as a 20MP selfie camera. It will also be powered by a massive 4,000 mAh battery. As the Black Shark Helo is a gaming smartphone, it comes with features like Gamers Studio which allows users to customize the phone settings for things like processor speed, display refresh, touch sensitivity and more. The variant with 10GB of RAM will also include 2 game controllers.
OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition
The OnePlus 6T is already an excellent handset, with top-end hardware specs and features for a much lower price compared to its flagship counterparts. Now, OnePlus even goes further by releasing a new model of the phone with 10GB of RAM which is an extra 2GB from what they offer in the regular variants. However, OnePlus actually opts for the aggressive pricing on its OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition as the handset will be priced at a much lower price compared to other smartphones with the same specifications.
The gaming handset also has some design difference from the regular models. It has not only elements of carbon fiber finish, but also a signature Papaya Orange color of the McLaren finish on the edge of the glass back. The Papaya Orange even features in the animation of the in-display fingerprint sensor of the phone.
Besides having 10GB of RAM, another prominent difference between the limited and standard editions are the 30W Warp Charge tech. OnePlus claims that the 30W Warp Charge tech on the limited edition can allow it to charge from 0 to 50 percent in 20 minutes. With a whopping 10GB RAM and an impressive fast charger, the McLaren Edition is only priced at $699 (around Rs. 48,900).
Other specifications on the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition are just identical to the standard ones, with a 6.41-inch Super AMOLED panel, a Snapdragon 845 SoC and 256GB storage. There are also an on-screen fingerprint scanner, a dual rear camera setup with 20MP and 16MP sensors as well as a 16MP selfie camera.
