Want to know how far Apple has improved in the waterproof feature? The answer for you is right on Reddit, where an account named lorislongfellow posted an exciting story telling how his iPhone was lost at sea, then was found after eight hours still working well.
The user recounted that he and his girlfriend was going to the beach for paddle boarding and kayaking, he intended to propose to her after that. Unluckily, he fell backwards off the board, and when he got on the board again, he discovered that his iPhone X was not in his pocket anymore, it fell into the ocean.
The user and his girlfriend tried to locate the phone using snorkeling gear, but soon they found it hopeless, it wasn’t possible to find the phone among the debris and sand of the sea. They couldn’t call it to locate it or use Find My iPhone either since the water prevent the phone from getting signals.

According the post, after dinner, lorislongfellow decided to take a final shot and went to find his iPhone. At that time, the tide came out a little and he hoped the sea would part and his phone could get the signal. And it did.
The couple ran to the beach, use Find My iPhone and get the phone to play its sonar sound, which lead them to spot in among the rocks. It was not only still working well, but its battery also had 66% left. Taking his iPhone X home, the user put it in a rice bag, since then, there hasn’t any troubles with the phone.
Of course, everyone will have their own experience and it’ll be unique, but how the iPhone X survived 8 hours underwater is so impressive. However, we do not recommend trying replicating this.
