India is among the most promising smartphone markets for global growth. The Indian industry registered an annual growth rate of around 10 percent while the entire market in the world is undergoing a slowdown in terms of sales, year on year. After the country achieved the 10 percent growth rate last year, the global market is hoping that India will exhibit a similar growth rate in 2019. In addition, a report pointed out that there are more and more customers thinking about improving camera quality in the upcoming mobile phone that they are planning to get.

The report, titled “CMR India Mobile Pricing Index 2018”, additionally noted that potential buyers now are paying more attention to RAM, battery capacity as well as internal storage on the next smartphone they buy. Furthermore, according to the report, even though the world’s smartphone market is experiencing a slowdown, the Indian market is rising and becoming more competitive than ever. In particular, the competition here has got so tense that players are continuously reducing their selling prices to encourage consumer demand. User demand is increasing in terms of upgrading specifications and considering what a company has to offer better than its rivals.
By viewing the data and report findings, IIG CMR Lead Analyst Narinder Kumar stated that:

Due to this, over 80 percent of smartphone players are selling their products at a lower price compared with the industry’s standard rate.
This means in every five smartphones, there are four currently sold at a price below the overall ASP for a device in a particular segment. The report added that these smartphone makers include Indian and Chinese players. Meanwhile, 75 percent are selling phones at a premium price, including Google, Samsung, and Apple. Lastly, it was stated by the report that the 10 largest smartphone producers made up between 80 and 85 percent of smartphone segment’s total sales.
