For the outbreak of Coronavirus, a lot of people are trying to save and tighten their budgets but phone companies still decide to release their new products this month and summer. Compared to February last year, phone shipments were 38% lower. Let’s wait to see how the next months will go. And here are the 15 best smartphones that have been launched and will come out over the next few months that may heat up the market.
Samsung Galaxy Fold 2
Believing and leading in foldable devices, Samsung has been working on this for years. In February 2019, Samsung introduced its first foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold. This phone made headlines all over the world but soon then troubles relating to the screen came and the company had to delay the releasing day to September, five months later than scheduled.
The Galaxy Fold 2 is being expected to be launched around April and June or as late as September this year. Samsung fans are waiting for the new product with improvements built on experience from problems with the first Fold and the Galaxy Flip.
The Galaxy Fold 2 will have a glass screen instead of plastic and a larger internal display. Some also say that there will be an S Pen going with the phone. However, Samsung may delay the releasing day because of the pandemic going on in many countries in the world. The company is also having problems in producing enough Galaxy Flips for their potential customers.
Huawei P40 Pro series
Huawei’s fans are very exciting that the company will release its P40 series with 3 phones: the standard P40, P40 Pro and P40 Pro Plus. With a 10x optical zoom lens, the P40 promises to bring you high-quality photos even when they are taken in low light conditions. Its bezel-free design is also an excellent point. Due to the political problem, there aren’t any plans for releasing the P40 lineup in the US yet but the smartphones are now on sale in Europe.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 is the phone made for users who like high technology. As usual, Samsung often releases its new Galaxy Note in August, but this year, there are some rumors that the company will launch its new product, the Galaxy Note 20, in July.
Since the pandemic is strongly spearing, it seems impossible to hold a huge event in a stadium or a music hall venue to introduce the new product like they do every year. There isn’t any confirmation from Samsung but maybe they will hold an online event instead.
About the phone, we can expect a Galaxy Note 20 with key features of Galaxy S20 with a fast 120Hz screen refresh, 5G data speeds, and a high-resolution camera as well.
Xiaomi Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro
Xiaomi launched its Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro in the latest event in the Chinese market in February and in the international market (except the USA) in March. These phones have an impressive 108-megapixel camera sensor. Other specs of the two are also on top. A 4500mAh battery with a 30-watt wireless charging option, the latest Snapdragon 865 chipset or 90Hz display is what attracts people.
There is still no plan for the release in the US market but Xiaomi announced to release the handsets Europe like Spain, France, and Italy this April with the price will start at Rs 66,807 for Mi 10 and Rs 83,490 for Mi 10 Pro.
Google Pixel 4A and 4A XL
Google had a successful year when launching the Pixel 3A and 3A XL, the low-price versions of Pixel 3 phones in 2019. There is some information about the 4A and 4A XL. They will have headphone jacks and a new front-facing hole-punch camera as well. The Pixel 4A will be sold for Rs 30,394. These two phones might be launched around April or May.
Redmi Note 9S
Last month, Redmi (a sub-brand of Xiaomi) introduced the sequel of the Note 8, Note 9S. One of the most impressive specifications of the Note 9S is the 5,020 mAh battery, even larger than Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra’s battery.
This phone is also excellent for the first in-display selfie camera of the Redmi Note series and the system of quad cameras on the back with a 48-megapixel main sensor. The company plans to release the phone globally, starting with Malaysia and Singapore. The starting price of the Redmi Note 9S is around Rs 16,378.
OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro
OnePlus promised to introduce its new excellent products, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, in a digital event on April 14. These two phones are predicted to have a higher price compared to OnePlus’ products last year for 120Hz displays and 5G connectivity. OnePlus’ fans are also expecting a hole-punch screen with the front-facing camera and possibly, the OnePlus 8 Lite, a budget variant.
TCL 10 Pro
TCL is on its way to affirm its position in the smartphone market with the new products. The TCL series seems to follow the plan by its TV line with low prices. The first phone of the series is the 10 Pro sold at over Rs 38,000. This phone comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and sports a 6.47-inch curved AMOLED display. The fingerprint sensor is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor. The system of four cameras on the back is also impressive. The company plans to release the phone this April.
TCL 10L
With a 6.53-inch full HD display, four cameras on the back, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor with 6GB RAM as well as 2 options of storage (64GB or 128GB), the TCL 10L is cheaper compared to the 10 Pro, although its screen and specs are a bit lower. This phone is planned to be released this May.
Apple iPhone SE 2
A more affordable phone, iPhone SE 2020, is going to be launched this April by Apple. This phone could be similar to the iPhone SE 2016 and have elements from other iPhones with the starting price of around Rs 30,394. Apple might have an online event in April to introduce this phone like the company did when launching other products.
Apple iPhone 12
As usual, Apple typically releases new phones in September, but this year, the future of the 12 series of iPhone doesn’t seem so bright because of the effect of the ongoing pandemic. Suppliers in China limit their capacity or even stop temporarily and this may strongly affect iPhone’s sales. Some say that the iPhone 12 series will have a new design but some say that there won’t be any noticeable changes in design compared to iPhone 11 and 11 Pro and maybe, not every model will have 5G support. Let’s wait for the annual launch event of Apple this September.
Moto G Stylus
In February 2020, Motorola introduced two new phones which are more affordable: the Moto G Stylus and Moto G Power with the Snapdragon 665 processor and a full HD hole-punch screen for a selfie camera measuring 6.4 inches. The 4GB RAM phones run Android 10. As you can guess through its name, the Moto G Stylus comes with a stylus and this helps the Moto G Stylus compete with the LG Stylo or Samsung Galaxy Note. Rs 22,853 is a very reasonable price for those above advantages and the triple-camera setup on the back.
Moto G Power
There are many similarities between the Moto G Stylus and Moto G Power. Launched in Spring 2020, the Moto G Power is cheaper than the Moto G Stylus and of course, it doesn’t have a stylus. However, the battery of the Moto G Power is really a strong point. With a capacity of 5,000 mAh, the company commits a battery life that can last more than 3 days of regular use. The triple-camera array on the back is also another advantage of this phone.
Sony Xperia 1 II
Sony launched its 2 new phones, the Xperia 1 ii and the Xperia Pro this February. These two phones have many similar basic specs like the 21:9 ratio 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display, the wireless charging-enabled 4,000-mAh battery, 8GB of RAM, 256GB storage and the Snapdragon 865.
The triple-camera array is also a notable point that promises to bring wonderful pictures of life. Like the Xperia 1 of 2019, the Xperia 1 ii borrows the camera technology from the camera Alpha line. There will be 5G support also. There is still no information about the starting price of the Xperia 1 ii.
Sony Xperia Pro
Introduced alongside the Xperia 1 ii, the Xperia Pro is a 5G phone made to help users capture moments of their lives and it is a true competitor to the iPhone from Apple in terms of video shooting.
Like the Xperia 1 ii, this phone has the same triple-lens setup on the rear with camera features similar to Alpha. The 6.5-inch 21:9 ratio 4K OLED display can bring users amazing experience of images, 8GB of RAM and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor allows the phone to work smoothly while the 512GB storage lets users store a large number of photos and videos.
Sony hasn’t announced the starting price for this phone but probably, it will be higher than Xperia 1 ii’s price.
