YouTube Music has carried out a test on artist profile redesign for a while. This revamp now seems to be rolling out more widely to iOS and Android.
The artist redesign of YouTube Music begins with a bigger cover image, which features a closer crop. As the image starts to fade out, the name of the musician appears prominently. Meanwhile, the button “Subscribe” with the count for followers is now put in the center.
Additionally, YouTube Music has also added the card “Latest release” following the Material Theme to take note of the new single or album with the preview art. And the list “Songs” has a new name to show how the songs on the list are “Top songs.”
Meanwhile, “Albums” has bigger cover art; therefore, only a full work appears at a time. Thanks to this redesign, the overall interface becomes more beautiful. And carousels for “Fans might also like,” “Featured on,” “Videos,” and “Singles” remain unchanged.
The artist redesign’s very bottom houses “About” section, which was previously put on the top. Users can tap the chevron to expand, and a count of total view is now available.
The redesign of the artist page is unveiled through a server-side update if users currently use YouTube Music’s latest version - 3.37.
In addition, another identical revamp is being developed for desktop web player; however, it will not be unveiled at this moment.
Separately, YouTube is cooperating with Merchbar to let artists sell the official merchandise to global fans from a shelf under the video. The feature is the new deal that focuses on assisting video creators in earning more money from their own videos, beyond the earnings brought in via ads and subscriptions. With the latest Merchbar cooperation, YouTube is paying its attention to serve the artist community. The feature is coming first in the United States and will arrive in other markets later.
