After only one week YouTube Music was launched in the Indian market, the content sharing application has already had up to 30 lakh downloads.
At the beginning of March 2019, YouTube introduced both the YouTube Premium paid service and YouTube Music – an app to stream music – to Indian users. The main purpose the Google-owned platform brings them to the nation was to compete with some other renowned platforms such as Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Music or music players from India itself like Gaana or JioSaavn.
Users will have to pay Rs 129 each month to become a member of the YouTube Premium service. In addition, they get many other benefits including downloading music in offline mode, playing music in the background and experiencing a lot of services without any ads.
On April 08, the YouTube Chief Executive Officer Susan Wojcicki said,

The promising numbers mentioned above partly mark YouTube's success in the Indian market. That's why the company decided to celebrate with the music fraternity with the attendance of a lot of renowned names like Guru Randhawa, Harshdeep Kaur, Badshah, and a world-class DJ Alan Walker.
In addition, it would be a big omission when not mentioning some senior executives in the music field, as well as well-known Indian personalities like Javed Akhtar. They were the important factors to re-confirm the success of YouTube Music in India.
