For those who are in love with the game ‘Pokemon GO’, this seems to be something bad: You will no longer be able to enjoy the game anymore, because the developer of the game, Niantic, has recently announced that it will shut down all support of the Pokemon GO as well as Ingress games for some smartphones running old Android OS versions, starting July 1, 2019.

According to the post, all smartphones running on Android 4.4 KitKat or earlier will be inaccessible to those games. This means that a phone with Android OS versions from Android 5.0 Lollipop and above is required for playing them. According to some recent data, only 7 percent of all Android phones are using the KitKat version, so it’s reasonable for Niantic to cut off the support for those devices. However, it still remains unclear as Niantic hasn’t made any official explanation about its execution. More details will be clearer for users through in-game help for Android 4.4 KitKat users.
Besides, players are urged to upgrade the phones from an outdated Android OS version to some new ones like Android 5.0 Lollipop to enjoy the game.
