According to an official announcement from Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant will follow Apple’s and Samsung’s footsteps to remove the bundled charger from the box of the upcoming Mi 11 series.
Much like Apple, Xiaomi cited environmental concern as the main reason driving the removal. It said most users have lots of chargers and they were aware that the decision might be misunderstood. However, the Chinese tech giant also hinted at a solution for the missing charger.

After the Weibo announcement, the company said the post was for the Chinese market only.
Xiaomi will launch two versions of the Mi 11 series, one with only the phone and the other is bundled with the company’s 55W GaN charger. Both of them will come at the same price.
Xiaomi Mi 11: Charging The Pros And Cons
This year, Xiaomi introduced the 120W charging solution with the Mi 10 Ultra. The standard is made possible by the bundled charger. So if the charger is gone, Xiaomi users will probably have to spend extra money to unlock the charging speed they want.
The charger removing trend is picking momentum. Rumor has it that Samsung will not include one in their Galaxy S21 packages. If you don’t have many chargers lying around, let’s hope that other OEMs can manage to resist the trend until 2021 comes.
According to Abhishek Yadav, a creditable leaker, those who purchase the glass variant of the Mi 11 will have two options, one, to have the phone without a charger, and the other is to get a charger without additional cost. However, people who opt for the leather version of the phone will get a free charger without asking for one.

The Mi 11 series debuted in China yesterday and has officially been the first smartphone to feature the new Snapdragon 888.
