Vodafone Idea, one of the three largest telcos in India, has announced several measures to support its users during the India lockdown and the ongoing pandemic.
Specifically, the firm will provide certain benefits for users with feature phones to help low-income subscribers get through this lockdown. The measures include a validity extension for those whose plans will expire during the lockdown and extra talk time so they can make calls amid the lockdown.
According to Vodafone Idea, these measures can benefit about 10 crore users who are on feature phones. The validity of these users’ plans will be extended to April 17, if their plans expire during the lockdown so that they can continue to receive calls. The lockdown prevents people from stepping outside, let alone going to a store to recharge their accounts.
Besides, Vodafone Idea will add Rs 10 talk time for prepaid users with feature phones, which they can use for making calls and sending messages. The offer will likely come to eligible users in the coming days as the company promised to do this as fast as it can. This offer is specially designed for feature phone users because they usually rely on offline stores for recharging their plans. Both Idea and Vodafone users will benefit from this offer.
These benefits are not available for smartphone users as they can recharge their accounts online through the company website or app, using e-wallets or USSD.
