Uber has decided to partner with Flipkart to deliver essentials to people living in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru amid the country’s lockdown.
Uber’s two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and a network of drivers will help deliver the essential supplies to consumers’ doorsteps safely.
Uber said in an interview that the partnership between the company and Flipkart would keep the economy running while enabling Indians to stay inside their houses amid the lockdown as well as offering drivers earning opportunities.

No commission will be charged, which means the drivers get to keep 100% of his billed amount.
Meanwhile, Uber’s partnership with Bigbasket will provide people living in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Noida, and Chandigarh with essential items.
The vital supply chains will be kept running while customers can receive essential goods every day. Moreover, the partnership will support the goal of the government to keep the citizens at home, containing the spread of the virus.
However, the company didn’t reveal the number of drivers. Following the government’s guidelines for COVID-19, all Uber drivers will be provided with masks, sanitizers, gloves and safety training.

Since India went under full lockdown, e-commerce companies have had difficulties in delivering orders. Although the delivery of essentials, including food, medical equipment, and pharmaceuticals, was allowed, delivery staff had reported being harassed by police.
Warehoused being shut down, trucks being stopped at state borders, the operations of e-commerce players saw a disrupt. But now they have resumed operations and are working to complete existing orders.
