TikTok Created A Twitter Account To Fight Misinformation Around Its App

TikTok has created an information hub along with a Twitter account among attempts to tackle misinformation and rumors about the app in real-time.

TikTok has created an information hub along with a Twitter account among attempts to tackle misinformation and rumors about the app in real-time. On Monday, the video-sharing app said that it will use these channels to explain the facts and “set the record straight.”

In a statement, TikTok said that it’s taking the next step to keep building trust with its community by speaking up about the facts. And it will do this in its own words as well as the words of the leading experts in academia, media, and cybersecurity. It claimed not to support or stand for misinformation on its network or about its network.

TikTok has been making several moves to retain its operation and regain people's trust after Friday, when Donal Trump issued the second executive order about the app, expanding the time for ByteDance to wrap up a deal to sell off TikTok’s US arm by 90 days.

In addition, according to the New York Times, Trump joined Triller, an American rival to the Chinese video-sharing platform. He was also spotted to posed a video saying he is “a professional at technology.” His first video on Triller got over 10 million views.

The executive order, when first issued, would illegalize all transactions between ByteDance and American citizens after 45 days. The time now has been expended by 90 days.

On the other hand, over a week ago, a source familiar with the matter said that ByteDance will sue the Trump administration for the executive order as the company didn’t have any chances to respond and that concerns over national security had no proof.
