On March 27, Electrek just revealed Tesla had constructed a massive powerpack at a train station in Osaka, Japan, which is considered as the biggest energy storage system in Asia. However, this time, the company doesn’t aim to offer reliable and cheap power for households. Its major target is to deal with the traffic jam at the train station, as well as cut down the demand for energy at peak hours.
Although the energy storage system holds the first position in Asia, it still stands behind the power reserves with the energy storage capacity of 129 MWh at South Australia’s Hornsdale Wind Farm.

The new project in Japan is depicted as a part of its bigger plan that offers efficient energy storage’s benefits to its global clients. In January 2019, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, said his company exploited the battery storage at 1.04 GWh last year, which means three times as high as the total number of 2017.
