Swiggy Grocery Delivery Service Expanded To Over 125 Cities

The firm is providing delivery service for on-demand procurement as well as essential goods to homes through the Grocery tab. The company is deploying this service via distribution centers and local stores of large brands. Swiggy COO Vivek Sunder said:

“Extending our hyperlocal delivery offering will unlock a new dimension of convenience and safety for our consumers as well as earnings for our Delivery Partners during these extraordinary times. As we continue to scale this category, our goal is to provide the necessary support in terms of access to essentials and encourage citizens to stay at home during the lockdown period.”

The Service Brings Essentials To Homes For Prepaid Orders

From the Grocery category, users can see all the stores available in their neighborhood, add items to shopping carts to pay for them. Then, they can choose “no-contact” delivery if their orders are prepaid. For this scheme to work, Swiggy has formed partnerships with a number of national retailers and brands like P&G, Cipla, Adani Wilmers, Vishal Mega Mart, Marico, Dabur, Godrej, and HUL, along with city-specific stores to supply branded food items and essential products.

In separated news, Zomato last week began its delivery service for grocery items in 80 cities in India. The company also said that it will supply essential goods and launch takeaway service for restaurants that support the scheme. Zomato additionally extended paid Zomato Gold memberships for all subscribers by two months, free of charge. The policy is applied to users in India, Indonesia, the UAE, the Philippines, Australia, Lebanon, New Zealand, Turkey, Portugal, and Qatar.
