Samsung Will Not Supply Exynos 5G Modems For 2020 iPhone

Can Apple save itself from a 5G iPhone delay?

Agree to disagree, Samsung and Apple have both rivalry relationship as well as some partnerships over the years. While Samsung was set to provide AMOLED screen panels for a few latest iPhone models, it does not seem to be getting along with Apple all the time. Recently, Samsung refused a proposal from Apple that acquires the 5G Exynos 5100 modem chip for the future iPhones.

As per some Korean media reports, Samsung’s Electronics System LSI division said that Samsung simply does not have the supply volume enough to fulfill this request. In the context of the Galaxy S10 5G launching in Korea next few months, Samsung is considered to need as many 5G chips as it can make for the upcoming Galaxy Note 10.

In the meantime, a contract with Huawei might not be done because the Huawei and the US government don’t get along well with each other, so that could be an issue. Another option from MediaTek just does not meet the need of the tech giant. In addition, the ongoing legal war with Qualcomm won’t give Apple any chance for negotiations. Both of those reasons totally lead to a dilemma for Apple.

On the other hand, the former provider Intel might no longer ship wireless modems for Apple, including 5G chipsets. This comes after an internal dialogue between two companies last year when Apple decided to cut off its demand on Intel products. Following this, Intel has stopped researching for Apple devices and might complete shutting all the 5G plan for Apple.

The upcoming road of Apple seems rough, and it’s safe to say that it could lead to the skyrocket of 2020 iPhone’s price. Any failure in each stage of the race could severely impact the sales and even the brand’s image.
