Recently, an artist living in the Netherlands said that he could control a robot with just the power of his anus muscles.
According to the description of the event, this weird invention, called B-hind, could help us get rid of voice and hand-control and integrate your anal muscles into everyday life.
The man behind this odd show is Dani Ploeger and his inspiration was a no-less-weird performance by Stelarc in 1994.
As stated by Ploeger on his site, he created this invention by hacking a readily available device called Anuform, which is usually used to make anal sphincter muscles stronger.
The device is repurposed to translate the wearer’s contraction of anal muscles into commands for a robot, which he called the Keecker.
This is not the first time Dani Ploeger showed interest in exploiting the power of his anal muscles. Back in 2011, he threw a performance named Electrode where he used a similar method to play music.
The B-hind project page also shared that the sounds the audience heard during the installment were from the artist's butthole. They were the recordings of bodily processes like blood flow, heartbeat, or muscle contraction. The sound of the work focused on the fleshy-ness and wetness of the artist's body in interaction with the electronic device.
After the performance of controlling a robot with butthole, the audience’s reactions were diverse. Some people asked how many of the devices had been sold. One of the vacuum-sealed electrodes with feces on it was bought by an art collector. Some left the show as they thought it was gross. Two people showed interest in trying on the B-hind themselves.
