Experts from Japanese Gifu University recently introduced a robot hand for lonely men to hold.
The hand is called “Osampo Kanojo” which roughly translates to “My Girlfriend in Walk.” It’s designed to exude the smell and the feeling of a female partner, at least from the forearm down.
The idea behind this invention is to curb loneliness and bring comfort and companionship, especially during the trying time of COVID-19.
The robot hand holds on tight to the user’s hand so they don’t have to worry about it falling off when they walk.
Osampo Kanojo is covered in a substance that feels like real human skin. It can release liquid from “pores” for a feeling of a partner’s sweaty hand. It can also squeeze the user’s hand back.
According to SoraNews 24, the robot hand can release a smell of a woman’s shampoo and has a speaker to play the sounds of footsteps.
The hand is meant to provide a solution to loneliness and encouragement for those who are staying home to get outside and take a walk.
This’s just the female version and if the idea catches on, the experts will release the male variant soon.
The male version comes equipped with similar functions but different smells, including barbeque charcoal, motor oil, cologne.
