iPhone 12 lineup has officially been announced and the shiny new hardware coupled with all kinds of cool features seems like a sound investment.
But if you have skipped the iPhone 11 series and are on the market for an Apple handset, iPhone 12 might not be such a wise decision. What you need is not the latest, but last year’s handset – the iPhone 11.
While iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max have been discontinued to give way for the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone 11 is still available in stores for at least another year.
Save Some Money
The most obvious reason to go for last year’s iPhone is the cost. iPhone 11 is now significantly cheaper than its successor, with $599 compared to $799.

The handset is even cheaper than the iPhone 12 mini and if you ever need more storage, the other two variants’ price has been reduced too.
The Angular Design
iPhone 12 looks a lot like iPhone 4, which was released in 2010. While Apple did add some improvement, like thinner bezels and tougher glass, this kind of angular design has some serious issues.

First, it’s uncomfortable to hold in your hand for an extended period of time. Another reason you don’t see this look often is that it makes the phone looks thicker than it really is.
Apple may have some tricks up its sleeves to make the iPhone 12 more comfortable to hold in your hands, but for now, the iPhone 11 still outshines it when it comes to comfort.
Beware Of 5G
iPhone 12 lineup is Apple’s first to have 5G support. We all know what’s good about this next-gen Internet connection. It’s lightning-fast and can render older tech obsolete.
However, there is no point investing in a 5G device if you have no coverage where you live.
So if there is no 5G in your area, do yourself a favor by waiting for the day it comes to think about getting a 5G device, as iPhone 12 isn’t cheap at all.

It’s true that having a future-proof device feels comforting but let’s look at the harsh truth, 5G coverage is still rare in most parts of the world.
Who knows, you might get 5G coverage next year but it can be a few years until that day comes.
So check for the service in your area, if 5G won’t come to you in the next few months, iPhone 11 with 4G is still nicely fast and reliable.

Updates For Years To Come
iPhone 11 might not have 5G but there are still a few more years until we can be confident saying that it’s outdated.
Apple updates its iOS annually and new release hits compatible handsets simultaneously and goes back really far.
The latest iOS update, called iOS 14, comes as far back as iPhone 6S released in 2015.

So with that being said, buying iPhone 11 now and you can rest assured that you will have a few good years ahead with regular security updates and few features. This means, if you want to hold on to your device for a few years, there is no need to get iPhone 12 now, especially if you don’t have 5G coverage in your area.
Who knows, iPhone 11 might get better when it ages.
iPhone 12 Is Better Than iPhone 11, Yes, It’s True
Apple has made iPhone 12 a better device than iPhone 11 and that is the fact most people know.
Some of the enhancements are MagSafe and 5G compatibility, improved graphics performance, more pixels, better Night Mode, and video recording.

On papers, that sounds like the best smartphone in the world to have but are these cool features suit your needs?
iPhone 11 is excellent and can satisfy most users’ needs. What’s the point of getting a device full of features you aren’t going to use?
If you feel that iPhone 12 has everything you need in a phone, go ahead, pre-order now, otherwise, you are better off with iPhone 11.
It’s easy to fall for new gadgets and that is ok as long as you are sure you need them. But before you say goodbye to your hard-earned money, consider what you’re going to get in return.
