On Thursday, Qualcomm and Tencent announced their new cooperation with the goal of making Tencent’s games run better on Qualcomm chip-based devices as well as creating a Tencent’s gaming phone with 5G technology.
At the moment, Qualcomm is supplying most of the processors for smartphones, especially Android devices. In the meantime, Tencent is the largest mobile software company in China, considering it’s also the world’s largest gaming company. The Chinese giant has more than $450 billion in market capitalization thanks to the massive popularity of its own social network WeChat.

In a statement, Qualcomm China Chairman Frank Meng said this will soon take various advantages of 5G connectivity, which can give gamers an immersive experience.
Accordingly, two companies said that with the agreement, future games of Tencent could be optimized for Android phones which are running on Snapdragon Elite gaming chipsets. Besides, two also have shared their hands in making a gaming phone together. Note that Tencent has paired with the Republic of Games (gaming device division of ASUS) earlier this month to introduce a Qualcomm-backed gaming phone.

Apart from that, a 5G gaming phone is also an important part of the upcoming plan. One of the major goals is to bolster streaming game service with the speed-faster connection in the near future. From that, users will be able to live-stream more games on their mobile devices.
Furthermore, Instant Play - a cloud-based backend service developed by Tencent - is expected to help game developers strengthen game streaming. As of now, Microsoft’s Azure cloud is also offering a similar service.
