If you are excitedly waiting for the launch of PUBG Mobile India, you may want to hold back that excitement for another while as the game may not come to the country anytime soon. Specifically, the government is still considering if the game should be approved.
As long as the government hasn’t given them permission, PUBG Corporation can’t decide on a launch date for PUBG Mobile India and the game is already behind its schedule. The company began the campaign to re-launch PUBG Mobile in India during the Diwali festival, but 15 days have passed and we haven’t seen any sign of an official launch.

As reported by InsideSport, PUBG Corporation had requested to meet with the officials of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) about 4 weeks ago. However, the company hasn’t received any responses from the ministry. Unless PUBG Corporation gets to discuss with the ministry and gets permission from the government, it cannot proceed to launch the game, a plan that has cost it millions of dollars. An inside source of the PUBG promotion said:
“Government is yet to respond to the request for the meeting. The game promoters are ready to comply [with] all norms set by the Indian government but no response has come back from the MEITY office.”
The dead-end between PUBG Corporation and the government is delaying the release of the game, but the report also suggested that PUBG Mobile India will come out in January or February.

Previously, PUBG Mobile was banned in India during an intense wave against Chinese products a few months back. The popular mobile game was on the banned list along with over 200 Chinese apps. Earlier this month, Tencent shut down the PUBG Mobile servers in the country. Developing a dedicated version for the Indian market is a way for the game to continue its life in India, where there are millions of its players.
