At the Worldwide Developer Conference this summer, the Cupertino-based company teased one of the most important updates to its desktop operating system macOS now that it moved to Unix. It’s been six months and the update is finally here.

During the MacBook event last night, Apple announced Big Sur with a promise it will be a major change for users of macOS. With Big Sur, the macOS design will be more in line with iOS as well as iPadOS.
Laptops powered by the new M1 processor will have Big Sur pre-installed as the new operating system, which includes a lot of optimizations for the chip such as the new Rosetta version that allows apps to run smoothly on M1-powered devices. With Big Sur, M1 devices will also be able to run iOS and iPadOS applications.

You are using an Apple computer, you can upgrade it to Big Sur starting November 12. You can download the OS from App Store for free. If you are a new user of Apple computers, you will have Big Sur pre-installed on your device.
It’s worth noting that like other big updates, before getting Big Sur for your system, keep in mind that the first release may contain a lot of bugs, which will be fixed in the coming time. Just in case, however, you should back up your system before updating your OS.
