According to a report conducted by Great Learning, the Indian market will welcome over a million jobs in cloud computing by 2022 because many organizations change to operating to cloud infrastructure.
By 2020, the Indian’s cloud computing market, currently valued at 2.2$ billion, will grow up to 4$ billion with over the annual growth rating staying at 30%.
There are many critical skills needed for IT professionals to get these jobs, including skills in infrastructure-as-a-service, agile, automation, software-defined network, DevOps and software-as-a-service. According to the Great Learning’s report, companies are demanding a lot for positions like Cloud Software Engineer, Cloud Architect, Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, and Cloud Enterprise Architect.
And anyone working in the cloud computing segment will be more likely to earn more than people working in the traditional IT services, and they can even sometimes double their current pay paid for the IT professionals.
Companies are paying from Rs. 5 to 7 lakh per year for entry-level cloud professionals which is much higher than an engineer in the traditional IT services, staying only at from Rs. 3 to 5 lakh. According to Great Learning, an associate in cloud service who has worked less than five years in the field will earn around Rs. 12 lakh to Rs. 19 lakh, while it can quickly get to Rs.
20 lakh for mid-level managers. Cloud Architects, which is a new position that requires understanding in both IT infrastructure and applications and capable of designing and managing application frameworks as well as operations, can be paid up to Rs. 30 lakh. Multinational Corporations, Oracle, for instance, have reportedly paid senior professionals in the cloud with 15 to 25 years of experience up to Rs. 1 crore per year.
According to the report, the cloud industry is still in demand for over 1.7 million positions. The news reported that for 100 jobs in cloud computing worldwide, only 1 candidate can qualify for those jobs. This gap is mostly happening since there are not enough trading as well as hands-on experience in a cloud-based environment and also industry-recognized certifications. This occurs when there are around two-thirds of enterprises worldwide are currently using cloud computing, and companies have been invested 4.5 times more on cloud infrastructure compared to traditional IT.
