India Do Not Require Permits On Electric And Ethanol Vehicles

In its latest attempt to promote electric and ethanol vehicles, India has decided to exempt those vehicles from applying for permits.

In order to promote electric vehicles in this country, the Transport Ministry recently decided to let commercial electric and ethanol vehicles, as well as others that run on alternative fuels such as ethanol not apply for permits, this is following the state transport authorities’ requirement.
This action will not only increase sales volume and the use of electric vehicles, but it will also blows the corruption at RTO (Regional Transport Offices).
Also, the ministry aims at reducing dependence on imported crude oil. Another plus is alternative fuels like methanol and ethanol can bring down the level of pollution in India.

According to officials, this commercial permit does not save the vehicles from procedures and documents such as passenger insurance cover, PUC certificate for methanol and ethanol cars, valid registration, and other conditions.
Electric vehicles will have plates too. Commercial vehicles will go with green plates including yellow letters and number; and non-commercial vehicles will have green plates but with white letters and numbers.
