Google Announced ‘Google Research India’ To Build AI Community In India

At the ‘Google For India’ event 2019, the US tech giant has just announced its plan to set up an AI research lab called ‘Google Research India’ in Bengaluru. With the new centre, the company hopes to focus on conducting both fundamental and advanced computer science research in this nation. In addition, two other targets include establishing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) community and applying research to handle existing problems.
Dr. Manish Gupta will be the major leader of this project. He is now a famous computer scientist in India. Also, Professor Milind Tambe, who works on research concerning the development of multiagent systems and AI for Social Good, will take part in the ‘Google Research India’.
Google revealed that the company would team up with many various industries including researchers and academic institutions. This move aims to boost the growth of AI in this market.
According to Google Vice President of Engineering Yossi Matias:
Google previously said that the company has brought up to 4000 venues to the Google Station platform. In addition, it has inked pact with BSNL in a bid to provide connectivity in many Indian villages from Bihar, Maharashtra to Gujarat. Until now, its services have been used by up to 1,200 YouTube creators who have more than 1 million subscribers.
