All over the world have warned about global warming, calling people to join hands to protect the environment to prevent this situation. Because global warming brings huge consequences to human life and the survival of humanity on Earth in the future. When the climate around the world becomes warmer, the ice on the sea will melt, which causes the level of water to rise and hit the mainland. After so many calls and attempts to reduce the effects of climate change, the latest research shows that its consequences will come faster than the researchers expected.
Sea level rise will submerge the land and cities (Coastal Cities)
Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley have discovered that ocean warming is increasing and faster than previous estimates. The oceans are getting hotter and overflowing inland due to thermal expansion. According to the latest study, by the end of this century, sea level could rise by 30 cm. This is on top of the increase in the sea levels from melting glaciers and ice.
In fact, up to 9 out of 10 heat comes from greenhouse gases has been absorbed by the ocean when it is trapped in the atmosphere. The difficulty is that it takes decades for the ocean to cool down after absorbing a large amount of heat. So even though we apply miraculous greenhouse gas emissions reductions, the ocean is still expanding and invading the mainland.
Sea level rise is not the only consequence that global warming will bring, storms, heavy rain and wind will become stronger and more quantity as the effects of climate change develop in the future.
Zeke Hausfather, a co-author of this research, said that the figures show that 2018 is the year when there is a level of private standing when measuring on land, but it is the year with the hottest level when measured in the ocean compared to previous years. The signs and phenomena of climate change are easier to see when there are changes in the oceans than the mainland.
