Galaxy Note 10 Event Recap: 7 Biggest Announcements Of Samsung

Here are the seven most important announcements of Samsung at the Note 10 event this year, including the launch of some new devices

Samsung had to delay some of its hardware launches this year, but it did not stop the company from moving forward with the Note lineup. The Korean electronics giant just announced two variants of the Galaxy Note 10, a regular offer and the Note 10 Plus that comes equipped with a gyroscope and an S Pen with Bluetooth.

What did not make it to this year’s Note 10 lineup is the headphone jack, which was not a surprise at all as Samsung spoke about this absence when they introduced the Galaxy Fold.

Apart from the long-awaited Note 10, Samsung did have other important announcements, let’s look at some of them:

Note 10 And Note 10 Plus

After months of rumors and leaks, we have finally had the chance to see and experience the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus. Both of them have wireless charging to support increased batteries, in-display fingerprint sensors, AMOLED display, and a triple camera setup on the rear, which consists of one for regular, one for telephoto, and the other for wide-angle.

The non-plus Note 10 will have a screen measured 6.3 inches while the Galaxy Note 10 Plus will be a bit bigger, reaching 6.8 inches. One feature the Plus variant has but the other one does not is the DepthVision camera for 3D scanning objects.

The note 10 lineup also comes with a wide range of colors, including one with an iridescent finish, which is a trend in the last few years.

The two new phones also come with an enhanced capacity for gaming. Now, with Game Launcher, gamers can have an automatic connection to Discord for chats.

Coming with the device is USB-C headphones, but if you want a dongle, that will set you back and addition of $9.99 (around Rs. 707). And as we mentioned above, the two phones will not feature a headphone jack.

The S Pen Now Has Bluetooth, A Gyroscope, And An Accelerometer

The S Pen now has Bluetooth connection so its use will not be limited to Note device anymore. Some of its abilities are turning handwritten content into Word document in several languages, an accelerometer and a gyroscope for controlling a device remotely, changing camera modes by hovering the Pen on the Note 10.

The camera now has an AR Doodle mode that allows you to write or draw what you like on the photo. You can imagine it as making a custom filter for each image.

Note 10 5G

Basically, there are only two new Note 10 launching this year, but for those who intend to use the fifth-generation cellular network technology, Samsung did release another variant, the Note 10 5G. This offer with 256GB configuration will set you back $1,300 (roughly Rs. 92,063).

This offer is essentially the Note 10 Plus with 5G support, and for now, the only choice to get one is to go to Verizon. After the exclusive period ends, the model will be available at T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T.

DeX For Both Mac And Windows

DeX allows the Note device to work like a computer, and this year, it can work with a laptop with only a USB cord. This function can be used with both Windows and Mac, but the link to Microsoft will be direct and more seamless. Users can use touch if the PC supports it, mouse and keyboard.

According to Microsoft, its computers will support calls via DeX from the PC. However, no exact launching time was provided.

Galaxy Book S

The Galaxy Book S was actually a surprise device announced this year. It sports Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx chips, Windows 10, a 13.3-inch touchscreen, and a battery that can sustain the laptop for up to 23 hours. With the LTE connectivity, the Galaxy Book S is somewhat like a large smartphone with keyboard and trackpad. Users have the choice to acquire the laptop in pink or gray, and it will be charged via USB-C.

Apart from the above specs, no more information about the device was revealed at the recent event. However, according to Samsung, it will be launched this September at the price of $999 (around Rs. 70,749).

The partnership between Microsoft and Samsung would improve interaction and connectivity across all devices, as said by the two companies’ CEO, DJ Koh, and Satya Nadella. We will have the chance to see how that collaboration turns out to be in the next 12 months.

Under Armour Edition Galaxy Watch Active 2

Following the introduction of Galaxy Watch Active 2, at this year’s event, Samsung showed off the Under Armour edition. Priced at $309 (roughly Rs. 21,883), the MapMyRun app can track and record runs. The watch also has separate audio and phone capability.

The Galaxy Watch 2 features Samsung’s Wireless PowerShare mode, meaning users can charge the watch by putting it on the back of a Galaxy phone.

Commitment To The United Nations’ Global Goals

To show its support to the global goals of the UN, this year, Samsung said that it would give its products greener packaging to lessen their carbon footprint, as well as an app for its smartphones that provides information on the Sustainable Development Goals and raises money for causes like reducing hunger, poverty, and improving education and internet connection.

The company also announced the plan to add branded accessories related to the UN’s causes to its product portfolio. However, it did not say how much of the profit the UN will receive.
