Don't Want To Flip Through The Restaurant Menu? Uber Eats Dine-In Option Is Here

Forget flipping through the menu. Uber Eats new dine-in option allows customers to pre-order food via the app and come to dine at the restaurant.

For those who want to experience the restaurant’s atmosphere but hate to wait, Uber Eats new dine-in option is here. The new feature, which allows customers to pre-order food via the app and then comes to dine at the restaurant, is operated in some cities.

And unlike most of the services from Uber, there is no need for the courier or driver. The diners pre-order their food through the app and go to the restaurant themselves. At the moment, there is no available option to book for a ride for this particular feature.

The new feature allows customers to pre-order food via the app and then come to dine at the restaurant.

Payment will be done through the app with an optional tip available. The dine-in feature rolled out back in November. At the moment, Uber Eats is testing it in Sandiego, Tucson, Austin, and Dallas.

In a statement, a spokesperson of Uber wrote:

Since there is no driver, when using the dine-in option, users will not be charged a delivery or service fee. However, restaurants will need to pay Uber a fee for taking part in the dine-in feature. The fee is said to be less than the delivery one.

It remains unclear the kind of customer that this feature of Uber Eats is targeting. Those who want to save time would probably go for a delivery or an order for pick-up at least. This new feature is more likely a way of Uber to earn money from restaurants partnering with it, without having to pay delivery drivers. And for restaurants, this feature could be used to fill those empty tables. And last but not least, it could get information about the dining habits of customers, which would undoubtedly beneficial to Uber.
