Amazon Expands Whole Foods Market Stores, Offering Two-Hour Delivery

Amazon is reported to expand its Whole Foods Markets across the country and offers delivery service that will complete shipments in two hours.

Amazon will soon open a fresh Whole Foods Market with one key service – the two-hour delivery.

On Sunday, it was reported by the Wall Street Journal that Amazon has plans to build as well as expand the Whole Foods network around the United States in order to widespread its ultrafast Amazon Prime Now. With this expansion, the retail giant will be able to deliver goods to more customers living in rural areas and further.

According to information gathered by the journal, employees of Whole Foods Market have paid visits to several retail spaces in Idaho, Wyoming, and southern Utah, whose areas can measure up to 4,200 square meters. These are a little larger than the existing stores. Plus, the journal said that Amazon will use the additional space to keep delivery as well as its orders.

Back in 2017, Amazon acquired its produce partner for $13.7 billion, now offering Prime members a delivery service that will complete shipments in two hours, during the period from 8 AM to 10 PM.

Currently, Prime members pay $199 (students pay $59) per year to enjoy two-day delivery free of charge along with other benefits like access to video and music streaming.

Prime Now offers customers with fresh seafood, meat, produces, staples, certain alcohol as well as products made locally from Whole Foods Market. In the past few months, the online retail giant has been broadening this service. In September, it launched the service in 10 additional cities, meaning 38 cities in total now receive this service.

Regarding the Wall Street Journal’s report, there haven’t been any comments from Amazon.

Whole Foods Market, established in 1980, is an American supermarket chain that specializes in selling products that exclude flavors, artificial colors, sweeteners, hydrogenated fats, and preservatives. On August 13, 2017, reports said that the Federal Trade Commission approved Whole Foods Market to merge into Amazon.com. The deal was closed on August 28, 2017.
