On Sunday, Amazon announced that it will add nearly 20,000 seasonal jobs in India for its customer service department. According to the e-commerce giant, the jobs will be open in 11 cities across the country, including Noida, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Mangalore, Lucknow, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Indore, and Chandigarh.
The announcement comes after the company announced 50,000 temporary jobs in the country a month ago.

It’s been specifically said by the firm that the employees can choose to work remotely because most positions are under its Virtual Customer Service program. Everyone can apply for these jobs provided that they passed the 12th class and proficient in English, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, or Telugu.
TOI reported that the jobs would offer a monthly salary of between Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000, with the application time spreading through six months. Employees of these positions are responsible for catering to customers’ troubles via email, social media, chat, and phones. Akshay Prabhu, Customer Service Director of Amazon India, stated:
“We are continuously evaluating hiring needs across the customer service organization in response to the growing customer demand. We estimate that customer traffic will further scale up over the next six months with the onset of Indian and global holiday seasons.”

While the positions are currently temporary, Amazon says that some of them will become permanent at the end of this year, depending on the candidate’s performance analysis and the firm’s business requirements. Those who want to apply for these positions can call 1800-208-9900 or send an email to the address seasonalhiringindia@amazon.com.
Earlier this year, during Jeff Bezos’ visit in India, the e-commerce giant announced its plan to add 1 million new jobs in the country by 2025 by investing in infrastructure, technology, as well as logistics network. Bezos revealed the company’s plan to invest $1 billion into India to “help bring 10 million traders and micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) across India online, enabling the US $10B in cumulative exports by 2025.”
He added:
“We are investing to create a million new jobs here in India over the next five years. We’ve seen huge contributions from our employees, extraordinary creativity from the small businesses we’ve partnered with, and great enthusiasm from the customers who shop with us and we’re excited about what lies ahead.”
