Amazon Japan Stops Selling Huawei Products Following US Ban

In particular, Amazon Japan has removed all Huawei products from the direct sale.

According to a Friday report from Nikkei, the Amazon Japan, while being late, has finally stopped business with Huawei. In particular, it has removed all of its products from the direct sale.

As noted by Nikkei, although the direct sales have stopped, customers of Amazon Japan can still buy Huawei computers, tablets, and phones via third-party retailers on the site.

Amazon Japan has listed Huawei’s products as out of stock after the US blacklisted the Chinese giant last week. An executive order was signed by US President Donald Trump to ban the Chinese firm from doing business with US firms or governments due to concerns over national securities from the close relationship between the Chinese tech giant and the Chinese government.

In the United States, tech giant Microsoft also removed the MateBook, Huawei’s laptop, from its online store.

Huawei and Amazon did not respond immediately to comment requests.

Several days ago, we learned about the US ban on Huawei, starting with Google cutting business with the company. Particularly, on May 19, the giant tech firm suspended the transfer of software, hardware, as well as technical services to Huawei, except for those under the open source licensing.

Following the move, other US companies also cease business with the Chinese company. Regarding US chipmakers, companies including Qualcomm, Intel Corp, Boardcom Inc, and Xilinx Inc told their employees that they will no longer supply Huawei with components or software until further notice, as reported by Bloomberg on May 19.

Then, on May 20, Lumentum Holding Inc announced that it had discontinued all shipments to the Chinese giant. It said that it has the intention to comply completely with the imposed license requirements of the US. In the last quarter, Huawei accounted for 18 percent of Lumentum’s total revenue.

On May 21, QORVO Inc – the radio frequency chipmaker – said that its revenue may reduce by $50 million due to shipment halt with Huawei. On May 22, Analog Devices Inc said it would not ship anything to the Chinese company in the foreseeable future. Other big tech companies also follow the act include Panasonic Corp, Nanophotonics Corp, and Synopsys Inc.
