Amazon Announces Its Quantum Computing Platform As Its First Step Into The Quantum Computing World

Amazon announced to launch a quantum computing platform during the AWS re:Invent 2019 conference it held on Monday.
As quantum computers are now real with the ability to perform computations, tech firms are launching platforms where scientists and those are keen on tech can experiment. Braket, as Amazon’s system is called, will allow people to access three famous quantum devices from D-Wave, Rigetti, and IonQ. This can be considered the first step Amazon’s made into the world of quantum computing.
Amazon Web Service’s director of quantum computing Simone Severini stated that:
In its press release, Amazon says that with Braket, researchers will be able to build quantum computing algorithms, as well as test and run them on quantum devices as well as their simulations. In has a learning environment along with tutorials, a space for running built-in algorithms and testing new ones. And Braket lets users automate quantum program running.
Users can use Braket to program one among the three existing quantum machines, which are different from one another. The ion trap quantum computer of IonQ represents each quantum information unit as a separate atom that’s trapped by lasers; also, their devices are currently among the least noisy. Meanwhile, the superconducting computer from Rigetti represents qubits as artificial atoms that are made from superconducting wire. And the quantum annealer from D-Wave, which is made from superconductors too, runs on another principle that can run only a small number of problems compared with others.
And while other tech giants like Google and IBM already have their own quantum services, this is the first fro Amazon. According to Wired, the retail giant will also establish a uantaum research center in collaboration with CalTech and expects to someday construct its own quantum computer.
