Indian iPhone Owners, Here Is How You Can Unlock Your Phone Even With A Mask On

Wearing face masks is necessary for this trying time to protect yourself and others. However, iPhone owners have to go through the dilemma of unlocking their devices with the mask on.

Most people will think there are two obvious options in this situation. One, pull the mask aside and risk being infected; and two, disable Face ID and sacrifice the wonderful security it brings.

However, there is a way iPhone owners can unlock the phones with a face mask on, all they need is a few minutes of their time and some simple adjustments.

How To Unlock iPhones With Face Mask On

What we are going to do is to go through the process of setting up Face ID again. There is no need to worry as this method will not reset the system, it only leverages the alternate appearance option.

Step 1: Go to iPhone’s Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Set Up > Alternate Appearance.

Step 2: Two face scans will be initiated. However, this time, fold the mask in half and hold it so that it covers only half of your face.

Step 3: Turn off "Require Attention for Face ID" as this will increase your chance of success.

Step 4: You will probably see messages saying that there is an obstruction. But after a few times trying, the two scans will still complete. Ideally, this will allow users to unlock the phone with a full mask on.

This method will require a few tries of resetting iPhone’s Face ID to succeed.
