How to Disable Ads On Xiaomi Phones: Step-By-Step Instruction

In India, one of our biggest complaints with every Xiaomi smartphone is the ads in MIUI (MIUI 9 & 10) because they are irritating. In this article, I the way of removing ads from Mi apps like Mi Music, Mi Security, Mi Cleaner, Mi Installer, Mi Browser, Mi file explore, as well as other MIUI apps.

Without wasting any time now let's start.

If you do not know what version of MIUI in your phone is running, you will find that information under Settings > About Phone. Now check what's next to MIUI version.

1) For Authorization & revocation

Disabling this service is not easy. In MIUI 9 & 10, it used to take two or three attempts, and you have to wait up to 10 seconds after each attempt. In some cases, it may take up to 10 or 12 attempts.

• First, ensure that your phone is running on MIUI 9 or 10 and connected with the Internet
• Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Authorization & revocation
• Next, you need to scroll down then disable MSA, after which you'll see Revoke appear in the pop-up, tap on it
• There will be a message that reads: "Couldn't revoke authorization" or "Revoke successfully."
• If you see the former message, try at least 3-5 times until you see the message "Revoke successfully"
• Then, open Settings > Additional Settings > Privacy > Ad services Personalized
• Turn off Ad recommendation.

2) For Cleaner

• Go to Security > Security Settings
• Now, click "Cleaner"
• Turn off "Show recommended content"

3) For Mi Video

• Open Mi Video application in your phone
• Tap on account at the bottom-right.
• Tap on settings.
• Set online recommendations & Push notifications to Off. This will get rid of promotional and spammy notifications.

4) For app lock

• Go to "MIUI Settings"
• Open "App lock"
• Click the "Settings" icon
• Receive recommendations > Set it Off

5) For "Mi File Manager"

• Launch Mi File Explorer application
• At the top corner, you'll see a 3-dash symbol, tap on it
• Now open "Settings"
• Turn off "Receive recommendations"

6) For advertising identifier

• Go to Settings > Additional settings > Privacy > Ad services
• Turn off "Use advertising identifier"

7) For MIUI Security App

• Go to "Security"
• Open "Security settings"
• Turn off "Receive recommendations"

8) For Mi Browser

• Launch the Mi Browser app > Settings > Advanced > Card Setting
• Turn off "Recommend for you"

9) For Boost speed

• In the Security app, open Boost speed
• Click on settings button - (After the scan results)
• After the scan results, click the settings button
• turn off "Recommendations"

10) For Downloads App

• Go to "Downloads" on your phone
• At the top right corner, tap on the 3-dot symbol
• Open "Settings"
• Turn off "Show recommended content"

11) For Mi Music:

• In the Mi Music app, open Settings > Advanced settings
• Turn off "Recommendations"

12) For MIUI Themes:

• In the MIUI Themes app, open Profile > Settings
• Turn off "Show advertisements"

13) For APK Installer/Security Scanning Screen

• Install an APK file
• After successfully installing the file, you'll see a scanning screen, now tap on the "settings" icon
• Turn off "Receive recommendations"

14) For Installed Apps

• In Security app, open "Manage apps"
• Click on the 3-dot symbol at the screen's top right corner
• Click on "Settings"
• Turn off "Recommendations"
