Anil

If you want to pass the ownership of your Google Drive files to other people, you can read the detailed instruction below.

By default, you have the ownership of any Google Drive files you create or upload on it. However, if you want to shift the ownership of your files to other people, this article could be good reading for you.

It should be noted that when the ownership has been transferred to someone else, this means you no longer can revert the change to yourself, and even be removed from the Google Drive files that were once belonged to you. Also, the new owner has total control of the new Google Drive files, in terms of deleting, sharing or removing anyone.

First, open up your browser and go to the homepage of Google Drive. Then, head to the files that you wish to change ownership, do a right-click, then choose “Share”.

A setting window will appear. If the file has not been shared with anyone, you can add more people by entering the emails of ones you would like to share the files with under the “People” tab. Once done entering, click “Send”.

Also on the Share settings window, there is an “Advanced” option at the bottom. You click on that.

There is a section named “Who Has Access”, you head to the drop-down box. You click on the first among four options, “Is Owner”, to transfer the ownership.

Once the above step is done, select “Save Changes”. The ownership has been successfully transferred.

Google Drive will try to notify you of your last chance to the ownership, as from then you cannot revoke the steps from the beginning. If you’re sure of it, go ahead by selecting “Yes”.

Please note that when you transfer the ownership of a folder, it is the folder, not the files inside. After the ownership changes, Google Drive will send a notification email to inform the new owner of their new role.

So, that is all to change the owner of a file in Google Drive. Remember, if the new owner still allows your access, you can still edit the files that you have changed the ownership.
