Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 3 is the latest offering from Xiaomi in India. The device arrived as a direct successor to the Mi Air Purifier 2, launched way back in 2016. The Mi Air Purifier series also includes the Air Purifier 2C (Oct 2019) and Air Purifier 2S (Sept 2018). In this article, we will compare the Mi Air Purifier 3 vs 2S as they are the two best purifiers from Xiaomi at the moment. Even though the 2C was a more recent offering, it doesn’t have the connectivity or smart home features like the 2S

Purification force
The Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2S has a CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of 310m³/hr, covering an area of up to 37m2. Meanwhile, the CADR of the Mi Air Purifier 3 is 380m³/hr and it can deliver 6,333 liters of purified air per minute and cover an area of up to 45m2. You can clearly see that the Mi Air Purifier 3 not only covers a larger area, it is also more powerful than its predecessor.
Structure
Not only being more powerful and efficient, but the Mi Air Purifier 3 also has a better air circuit system. While the Air Purifier 2 has a structure of mixed flow fan and eddy fan, the Air Purifier 3 gets a backward tilting centrifugal fan, which is capable of increasing the airflow to up to 6660L per minute.
In addition, having a better structure also helps Mi Air Purifier 3 to have a lower working noise, though the improvement is not too significant. While the Air Purifier 2S has a working noise from 32 to 66 dB(A), the Air Purifier 3’s working noise ranges from 32 to 64 dB(A). Moreover, the Mi Air Purifier 3’s top outlet grid area is also expanded, allowing the device to transport airflow quicker and more even.
In comparison to its predecessor, the Mi Air Purifier 3 has a larger intake hole area of the lower half of the fuselage and that improves the air intake volume of the device significantly.
Display
Both the Air Purifier 2S and 3 have a circular OLED panel at the top to display indoor air data (temperature, humidity, PM 2.5 content), and purifier operation status (Wi-Fi connection & running block). Users can now see the information much easier in comparison to the Mi Air Purifier 2 thanks to the concentrated design. Moreover, they can easily see the current indoor air quality, which is reflected by the green, orange, and red lamp rings.
Sensor
Unlike the Mi Air Purifier 2 with the infrared sensor, both the 2S and 3 are equipped with a higher-precision laser particle sensor, that is said to be capable of detecting particles as small as 0.3 μm and the device will instantly display the AQI on its OLED screen.
Operation
The Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2s is equipped with a physical entity button on top of the fuselage. Meanwhile, the Air Purifier 3 gets touch buttons into its OLED display. Not just that, the 2s only provides three modes for users to choose, including automatic, sleep, and favorite. The Mi Air Purifier 3, on the other hand, is added with three more modes so that users can choose the speed of the device as well. To be more specific, you can set the device to run at low, medium, or high speed.
Price
Rs. 9,899 is the price of the Mi Air Purifier 3 in India. You can purchase the device on Flipkart and Amazon. A new filter for the Mi Air Purifier 3 is available on Mi.com for Rs. 2,199.
The Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2S price in India was Rs. 8,999 when it was first launched in the country on 28 September 2019. However, the device is now priced at Rs. 8,099 via Amazon India, Flipkart, and Mi.com
Summary - Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 3 vs 2s
Overall, the Mi Air Purifier 3 is obviously the better one. However, the device is around Rs. 2,000 more expensive than the Mi Air Purifier 2S. Therefore, you should carefully consider the pros and cons of the Mi Air Purifier 3 before making the purchase. The device is slightly more powerful, covers a bit more area than the 2S. It offers touch buttons, which feel more premium than the physical buttons of the 2S. Moreover, Purifier 3 users can also set the speed of the device at low, medium, or high. Finally, the Mi Air Purifier 3 has the newer filter HEPA Class 13 compared to the HEPAA Class 12 filter of the 2S.
