As the CO.VID-19 pandemic is spreading widely and rapidly around the world, we receive a lot of precautions about what to do to avoid getting infected with SARS-CoV-2. One of the things we’re told the most to do is washing our hands regularly with soap, each time for at least 20 seconds.
However, 20 seconds may seem too short for listening to music but far too long to stand at one spot and wash hands in silence. So, how can we make the experience less boring? Listening to music while washing your hands.
Deeplocal and its hardware hackers have created Scrubber, a soap pump speaker that plays music from your Spotify. The company has shared the entire list of required parts, instructions for building the speaker as well as custom code on Github so that anyone can make their own music-playing soap pump speaker.
When the device is complete and fully functional, probably waterproofed, it will automatically play a random song picked from your list of most played on Spotify for 20 seconds. You can now listen to your favorite song of the week while washing your hands and can even sing along too.
But it doesn’t just pick that 20 seconds randomly, it uses the preview clip made for every song on Spotify, which is meant to reveal the best part of a song. By creating the best experience possible, the device will not only entertain you when you wash your hands but also encourage you to wash them more regularly. Watch the following video to see how to make a soap pump speaker for your own.
