What do headphone companies have to do to beat the AirPods of Apple? Most of the companies believe that the answer to this question is a product having better performance, battery life, and noise isolation. But each time they come up with a product meeting those criteria, it has a much bigger charging case and a higher price.
Now, Samsung, the direct rival of Apple, is trying to win this battle by introducing Galaxy Buds which comes at a price of $129.99 from March 8 or for free when customers preorder the Samsung’s Galaxy S10 and S10 plus or purchase the new folding phone. For the European market, they will be €149 starting March 9.
Every detail of the Galaxy Buds from Samsung made them a winner. Their pill-shaped case is even smaller than the AirPods’ case. The buds offer a battery life of six hours and an additional seven hours inside the case.
The one feature that makes Samsung’s Galaxy Buds the true winner is accepting wireless charging. Galaxy S10 devices are equipped with reverse wireless charging, which means you can just put your earbuds on top of your phone for charging. This definitely comes in handy in two scenarios: when you want to brag about your new phone and earbuds with your friend or when emergency situations occur.
What is impressive is that Samsung has succeeded in cloning the easy pairing process of Apple. You just need to lift the lid of the case and pair.
Samsung is marketing that AKG is behind the tuning of the Galaxy Buds. But customers need to be cautious about this. Although AKG is a reputable pro audio brand with some really good headphones that does not necessarily mean it can perfect a pair of true wireless buds on its first try.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds’ design is one of its appealing features. With a pebble-like and curvy design, Samsung has embraced the recognition of a designer that gadgets should have a pillowy and soft shape, to come in close contact with the body of a human.
2019 will be a year full of improvement and big leaps for this earbuds category. And it seems like Samsung is contributing to this improvement with a nice and early effort.
