Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is the direct rival to Apple’s iPad Pro and Microsoft’s Surface Pro. The S6 has everything you would expect in the high-end tablet, including a monstrous new chip, an impressive Super AMOLED display measuring 10.5 inches, quad speakers, a new pen, as well as keyboard cover. But what makes it a strong device are the little extras it offers.

While the tablet market is generally declining, Samsung’s tablet shipments are standing strong at the second place after Apple as of the first quarter in 2019, reported by IDC. Part of the overall decline is due to lacking innovative features for the device, which Samsung aims to attack with its Tab S6.

For instance, you can use the updated S Pen stylus as a wireless shutter for taking photos and videos, along with a dual rear camera setup. Relying on magnets, the pen snaps strongly to the tablet’s back for storage as well as wirelessly charging it. According to the Korean company, the pen can survive an entire day on 10 minutes of charge.

Thanks to the Snapdragon 855 chip from Qualcomm, the Tab S6 receives over 80% boost in CPU and over 60% boost in graphics compared with the Tab S4. The increased performance is not only beneficial for daily tasks but is also present when you use DeX, Samsung’s Android desktop interface that makes the tablet more like a computer.

DeX is closely tied with the new Book Cover Keyboard. Improved from the keyboard cover of the Tab S4, the new version includes a touchpad, a quick-launch button for DeX, and function key row. Plus, there is now a free-angle kickstand for you to use the tablet in multiple positions.

Beside greater comfort, the table also allows you to work for a longer time. Samsung claims that the S6 can last as long as 15 hours on one charge, and there’s a USB-C port for fast charging.

Gaming is another improvement from the Tab S4. With an AI-powered Game Booster, you can optimize to get smoother performance as well as better image quality on the 16:10 display with a resolution of 2560x1600. In addition, Samsung has exclusively partnered with Discord to enable live chat via the Game Launcher app in the tablet.

The tablet offers several other extras such as an on-display fingerprint scanner and quad speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos and AKG. You can also wake the device by simply tapping twice on the display. However, the Tab S6 doesn’t have a headphone jack.

The tablet will go on sale in September

There are three color options: blush, blue, and gray. Preorder starts on August 23 via Samsung.com and the tablet will come to offline and online stores on September 6. The base variant is priced at Rs 44,913 for 6GB RAM/128GB internal memory, a higher variant costs Rs 50,440 for 8GB RAM/256GB internal storage. The prices include the S Pen but not the keyboard cover, which will cost you another Rs 12,437. An LTE version may come out later this year.
