With the Versa 3, Fitbit has made some design tweaks and added to the device integrated GPS, making it an excellent wearable. However, like its predecessor, instead of a smartwatch, it feels more like a fitness tracker with limited productivity apps. But to make up for it, the Fitbit Versa 3 does have a better display, a great battery life, and extensive fitness tracking. Continue reading our Fitbit Versa 3 review to find out everything you want to know about the device, from Fitbit Versa 3 release date, price, to specs.
Fitbit Versa 3 Price & Release Date
The Versa 3 was announced in August 2020, along with the Fitbit Inspire 2 and the Sense. And on the following day, the device was available for pre-order. And by late September, the company began shipping the device to customers. Consumers can buy the Versa 3 directly from Fitbit or from major retailers.
Fitbit Versa 3 price in India is Rs 10,999. Unlike the Versa 2 which came with a more expensive Special Edition version, the Versa 3 only has one standard version in three different colors, a black case with a black strap, and two soft gold ones with a Midnight Blue and Pink Gold band.
Fitbit Versa 3 Design & Display
The Versa 3 may look identical to the Versa 2 at first glance. However, a closer look reveals some design tweaks that help the new device look a bit sleeker. A change in the aluminum chassis’ color makes the Versa 3 look quite elegant. While the device’s universal charm is kept with a black option, the “soft gold” case brings a more neutral look.
But the change in the color of the chassis isn’t the biggest one in terms of design. It is the screen size. The display of the Versa 3 is now larger at 40mm compared to the Versa 2’s 39mm. The display of the Versa 3 is AMOLED with a 336 x 336 resolution. It is bright, clear, and crisp. And when the setting is set to dim, it still looks absolutely stunning at any viewing angle. However, there is one disappointing. Similar to the Versa 2, the bezels of the Versa 3 are still quite thick.
Navigating through the device’s menus and apps is like a walk in the park with no lag. Swiping to go to different functions also works really well.
The side button is also changed. The Versa 3, instead of having a physical button, now has a capacitive indent that is placed on the left. When you press this correctly, you will feel a short vibration, indicating the smartwatch’s activation. It is below the chassis’ lip. So when you need to find it, you need to feel the indent. And pressing the exact spot isn’t easy.
On the right side are a speaker and a tiny mic for calls.
The strap mechanism has also been changed. There is a small button that works like a latch. When you pull it down slightly, it will release the clasp. The silicone strap isn’t like the one that comes with the Versa 2. This is called the “Infinity Band,” since it doesn’t have a buckle.
Another major change is the charger. The charger of the Versa 2 isn’t the regular box-like USB one. Instead, it is a small magnetic dock that will charge the battery from 64% to 100% in less than 15 minutes.
Like its predecessor, the Versa 3 is also water-resistant. You can take the watch underwater up to 50m.
Fitbit Versa 3 Smartwatch Features
The device functions just like its predecessor. Although there are many apps to use, they are still enough to make many users happy. You have a Philips Hue app to control smart lights, among many apps. Some apps only work in the US, UK, or other regions. So it will depend on your location to see which apps are available. There is Fitbit Pay to make cashless payments.
Amazon’s Alexa is there to help you answer quick questions. And with Google set to acquire Fitbit, it is guaranteed that Google Assistant support will be added soon.
Spotify music and Deezer are available. However, if you don’t take your phone with you, you can only stream offline via Deezer.
Users who use Android can reply to notifications via the Versa 3, but not with iPhone users.
Fitbit Versa 3 Fitness
The Versa 3 offers 24/7 heart and activity monitoring. You also have guided breathing exercises. While you sleep, the device will also monitor the blood oxygen level.
Your daily activities are divided into calories burned, steps taken, step counts, and zone minutes. There are different workout options including interval workouts to circuit training.
The device also has integrated GPS although it isn’t really precise.
Fitbit Versa 3 Battery
Like the Versa 2, the Versa 3 can last a maximum of 6 days with one charge. This is when you set the display at normal brightness and use the GPS no more than 2 to 3 times per week. A 15-minute charge can give the device 36% more power. That is all the information that you need to know about the device, from Fitbit Versa 3 release date to its specs.
