Since its launch in 2011, Twitch has seen a number of streamers’ success with massive followings and profits from both games and daily Vlogs. But the platform may have never witnessed such a huge donation like this one. The main character in this story is Fortnite streamer Exotic Chaotic. He has obtained around 16,500 followers along with hundreds of paid subscribers since he started his full-time streaming career. However, it’s not easy money to make with people donating an average of $1 to $10 while he’s streaming.
That’s when Exotic Chaotic got the biggest donation of his life.
Exotic Chaotic
Earlier this week, in the middle of a Fortnite game, a Twitch notification popped up on his screen saying an unimaginable number. The screen message wrote donated $75,000 (about Rs 53.11 lakh), the biggest donation ever on the platform.
Shocked, Exotic Chaotic said “Wait a minute. That can’t be right.” The streamer checked his Paypal account twice so he could believe in his eyes, and the enormous donation sat there among other payments.
The donation turned out, came from his fellow Fortnite streamer – KingMascot. But the overwhelmed streamer swallowed his surprise to make sure the donation was real, because there used to be trolls where people donated a lot of money to make a notification pop up on the screen, then canceled the payment in the middle of streamers’ happiness. But for this streamer, the donation actually came 24 hours later.
Talking to Kotaku, KingMascot said the two made friends on Fortnite and share the obsession with cosmetic collection in the game. Knowing his friend was having financial problems, he decided to help out.
Exotic Chaotic shared that he doesn’t make good money and that he has a four-year-old son and a girlfriend working full-time to support his streaming career.
KingMascot, despite not getting much money from streaming, used to be a Bitcoin investor and now often trades on the stock market. Hence, he is financially able to help his friend.
Apparently, KingMascot later received tons of messages, some praised his gestures, but some asked for his donation.
As of Exotic Chaotic, he said the money will be spent on his family, but he also hopes to return the favor.
The streamer was well aware of the once-in-a-lifetime gift from which he needs to try harder for his son and his devoted girlfriend. He also said if his stream grows to some extent, he will spread the kindness like what KingMascot did for him, “It's very fun making bigger donations and seeing how happy it makes them.”
