This Jacket Is Said To Be 15 Times Stronger Than Steel

Dutch brand Vollebak revealed its new jacket which is said to be the strongest in the world. The material of the jacket’s outer layer is Dyneema, which is known as the strongest fiber ever existed. The Indestructible Puffer can help you withstand whatever abuse and can last for a lifetime.

For years, the adventure clothing brand has been making innovative adventure sports clothes. Vollebak is famous for making some of the world’s toughest piece of clothing. Some of its products include a pair of pants that can last for a minimum of 100 years and a virtually indestructible hoodie. So when they say that the Indestructible Puffer, their latest invention, is the strongest ever jack, they do mean it. When compared to steel, the outer layer of the jacket, according to Vollebak, is 15 times stronger. As for high-strength aramid fibers, it is 40% stronger. This means the jacket is literally unaffected by tearing, shearing, and blunt-force traumas.

On its official website, Vollebak writes that they had turned the conventional puffer jacket which is one of the most delicate and weakest pieces of clothing into one that is strongest in the world. Since every fiber of the jacket’s outer layer is 15x times stronger than steel, even when you are wearing a jacket made from steel, the Indestructible Puffer would still be 15x stronger. Vollebak has used a material used in anti-ballistic vehicle armor, body armor, giant container ships’ mooring systems, ropes used for oil rigs. In some tests, the mooring lines were strong enough to break the machines. The body armor could stop bullets fired from a Kalashnikov.

Because puffer jackets tend to be lightweight, the materials of the outer layer are polyester and nylon. The one from Vollebak is made 100% from Dyneema, the world’s strongest fiber. Compared to normal puffer jackets, the Indestructible Puffer has a heftier weight at 2.5 kilograms. But it’s going to last you more than one or two years. In fact, there is a chance that you can even pass the jacket down to your children.

An interesting thing is that the Indestructible Puffer provides the wearer with more protection if the weather gets colder. Thought tests, the strength of the jack has proved to increase from 5 to 10% when the temperature drops below -50 Celsius degree.

While its name is the Indestructible Puffer, the jacket from Vollebak isn’t actually indestructible. Like other puffers, the jack is vulnerable to fire and bullets can still pierce through it. Dyneema can be bullet-proof, but then you will need several layers. Still, the jacket is enough if you only go out on an outdoor adventure.

With its price of $985 or Rs 70,600, the jacket may seem a little too expensive. However, if you take a look at other brands, there are puffers that are even more expensive. Also, take into account that this one from Vollebak can last you at least 100 years.
