This Full-Electric Autorickshaw May Reduce Pollution In India

To enhance last mile transportation by using electricity and reduce pollution, Mahindra came up with the idea of a full-electric autorickshaw called Treo.

It depends on where in India you are living, urban travel can be cabs, buses, trains or a combination of all these three. What Mahindra aims to do is to enhance last mile transportation by using electricity. That’s how he came up with the idea of a full-electric autorickshaw called Treo.

The Treo is the company’s new electric three-wheel vehicle which uses lithium-ion batteries. These vehicles are clutch-less, and they can ride entirely silently. Therefore, they won’t cause any noise or air pollution, which make them 100% environmental-friendly.

The company uses a composite material to make sure that they are lightweight. The batteries used in these full-electric rickshaws are the same as those used in electric cars from Mahindra, with similar testing standards.

Usually, with a single full charge, the vehicle can run for approximately 130km. This means that if a driver is taking a nap after having his lunch and the rickshaw is only charged for a few hours, the driver can still drive for 50-60km more than regular vehicles. The auto comes with energy recollection systems, which means the energy used for deceleration is captured and transmitted back to the battery for later use.

As stated by the company, auto drivers running the Treo can earn from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 per month since they do not have to spend money on fuel.
