Over the decades, the world has been wondering about the existence of UFO and whether they have visited Earth or not. On Monday, the US Navy released a trio of videos to its online Freedom of Information Act Document library.

These videos record encounters between Navy pilots and strange objects in the sky. The Department of Defense stated that:

“After a thorough review, the department has determined that the authorized release of these unclassified videos does not reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems, and does not impinge on any subsequent investigations of military air space incursions by unidentified aerial phenomena.”

The videos indicate an encounter in November 2004 along with two encounters in January 2015 with their respective nicknames as Flir, Go Fast, and Gimbal. The Gimbal video shows that a pilot speculated that the strange object could be a drone.

In fact, these videos have been circled on the web for several years and the US Navy was aware that they are real footage from its planes. The Department of Defense said that the public release of the videos is meant to clarify public misconceptions about whether the footage circulating on the internet was real or not and if there was more to the videos.

Many watching the footage may have thought or doubt the objects were UFOs. And the answer is they are not likely UFOs like many expected. In 2018, debunking site Metabunk’s Mick West looked into the Go Fast video. He thought they were most likely slow-flying objects such as a balloon or a bird. Because the jet filming the object was moving fast, it created an illusion of speed compared with the ocean, especially after the object is locked on target.

Meanwhile, the Navy doesn’t have any explanations for those aerial objects and the Department of Defense still considers them unidentified.
