If the game has been a big part of your everyday life, the latest PUBG ban of the Indian government on the game may leave quite a void in you.
To add to the issue, three possible alternatives of the game have also been banned, including Cyber Hunter, Rules of Survival, and Creative Destruction, reducing your options of a battle royale game to just a handful.
However, the PUBG ban isn’t the end. The gaming industry has grown so much in the last few years that we now have a bunch of good mobile games to kill time.
Why PUBG Mobile Is Banned But PUBG Isn’t?
Following the deadly border clash between China and India, the Indian government announced a purge against Chinese apps citing security reasons.
In the last few months, the government has banned a dozen apps with Chinese origin and in the latest attempt, it added 118 new apps joining the blacklist, including PUBG Mobile, a game that has harvested huge success in India.
However, while the PUBG ban has put an end to the gaming app’s existence in India, PUBG is still safe.
While the two might sound the same, they have many differences. And the most notable distinction is PUBG is available on PC only while PUBG Mobile is for mobile devices.
Another difference, which is also what saves the game from being axed like its mobile version, is the publishers.
With the escalated tension between the two countries, what the Indian government wants is to remove Chinese apps. And with Tencent, a Chinese company as the publisher, the PUBG ban is inevitable.
Fortunately for the PC version, its publisher is PUBG Corp, a South Korean company, explaining why it is still available on PC but not mobile devices.
As stated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the PUBG ban was issued under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. The reason for the prohibition is that the apps are a threat to India’s integrity and sovereignty.
PUBG Alternatives
It’s true that PUBG is easy to understand and appealing, but it’s far from being the only battle royale game on the market.
As the PUBG ban might not be reversible, it’s time to find an alternative, here are a few possible options:
Call OF Duty: Mobile
While on paper, Free Fire is more popular than Call of Duty Mobile in India, we still think the latter is more suitable to be PUBG Mobile’s alternative.
If PUBG ban status is permanent, we are pretty sure that Call of Duty Mobile would be the alternative in gaming tournaments.
The game enjoys a successful opening in mobile gaming and has several legacy elements from its console/PC version. Some people even find it more appealing than PUBG Mobile itself.
Garena Free Fire
Garena Free Fire is currently the most-loved mobile game with more than 500 million downloads on Google Play Store. PUBG banned in India has created a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the mobile game to stand out and gain market share.
Free Fire has a vibrant gaming ecosystem with regular seasons and updates, making it a viable substitute when the PUBGM ban is in place.
Battlelands Royale
If you aren’t familiar with Battlelands Royale, it’s an exciting merger of Fortnite and classic battle royale gameplay.
The game features the quirky design that Fortnite can take credit to popularize but in a more compact form.
Since the PUBG ban date has come, it’s time to branch out and experiment with other titles.
Knives Out
With 10 million downloads, Knives Out enjoys decent popularity in India. It has not been banned so aspiring gamers can give it a try and see for themselves if the game can fill in the void left by PUBG ban. Knives Out has the edge in impressive graphics and its martial style.
Bullet League
Bullet League is another battle royale game and it reminds us of Hotline Miami. The game exudes a nostalgic design of 2D games and to be fair, it’s one of the most intriguing titles available on Android.
Bullet League might be the least popular on our list but it might because not many gamers have given it a try before PUBG ban to see how interesting it can be.
