Drone videos showing prisoners in hazmat suits digging graves on the Hart Island of New York City spark speculation that the city’s morgues have already been overflown as the number of d.e.a.t.h.s continues to rise.

This picture was taken on April 2. Prisoners in hazmat suits are digging graves on Hart Island. The city suggests that it could be the mass burial site for CO.VID-19 victims.

The footage was taken on Thursday and from the look of it, the graves are for victims of CO.VID-19, a disease that has taken the lives of 3,400 people and made 72,000 others fall ill.

Bill de Blasio, the city’s mayor, did not confirm the speculation that these graves are for Co.ro.na.vi.rus victims but he did talk about temporary burials so that the city could deal with each family later.

However, on Tuesday, back-hoes and cops were spotted on the island but prisoners were nowhere to be seen.

As stated by Jason Kersten, a Department of Correction’s spokesperson, there were usually 25 bodies buried on the island but ever since the pandemic broke out in the city in March, the number has risen to 72.

Hart Island has long been the burial place for unclaimed bodies or those the authority has been able to identify. It took the role after the Spanish Flu outbreak.

After claiming that some d.e.a.d bodies could be buried in public parks in the city, the public officials have caused disgust and panic in the public.

The suggestion, made by mark Levine, a councilman, was later dismissed but the question of how to deal with the growing number of d.e.a.d bodies remains.

The bodies are put in unmarked caskets. The usual number of bodies buried each week on the island is 25 but since CO.VID-19 struck, it has risen to 72.
